Following 5 years of service with the Royal Marines including operational deployments in Afghanistan, Andrew qualified as a Secondary school teacher. His main role was as a pastoral leader to 75 teenage boys, looking after their welfare and wellbeing and encouraging positive choices in all areas of their school life and beyond. He taught Modern Languages and ran a range of cadet and rock climbing activities. He has taken students on many adventurous trips including to north Wales, sea cliff climbing on the south coast and back country skiing and snow holing to arctic Norway.
More recently he has provided mentoring and outdoor activity programmes for young people, primarily in Herefordshire, where he lives with his wife Sarah and their two girls.
He loves the outdoors and expeditions have taken him to some wild places – from an ascent of the Eiger North Face to the summit of Everest and an attempt on K2 – he didn’t make the top but may well go back one day for another go! Other expeditions have included 1800 miles in a kayak down the Yukon river in Alaska with a friend and his wife Sarah and a ski traverse from the east to west coast of Greenland. He also loves coffee!
Andrew is a Governor at Godstowe School.
