OUR TEAM

‘Wilki’ leads Dynamis Adventures and is responsible for designing and delivering the programmes we run.

Andrew Wilkinson

Dynamis Adventures Founder

Following 5 years of service with the Royal Marines including operational deployments in Afghanistan, Andrew qualified as a Secondary school teacher. His main role was as a pastoral leader to 75 teenage boys, looking after their welfare and wellbeing and encouraging positive choices in all areas of their school life and beyond. He taught Modern Languages and ran a range of cadet and rock climbing activities. He has taken students on many adventurous trips including to north Wales, sea cliff climbing on the south coast and back country skiing and snow holing to arctic Norway.

More recently he has provided mentoring and outdoor activity programmes for young people, primarily in Herefordshire, where he lives with his wife Sarah and their two girls.

He loves the outdoors and expeditions have taken him to some wild places – from an ascent of the Eiger North Face to the summit of Everest and an attempt on K2 – he didn’t make the top but may well go back one day for another go! Other expeditions have included 1800 miles in a kayak down the Yukon river in Alaska with a friend and his wife Sarah and a ski traverse from the east to west coast of Greenland. He also loves coffee!

Andrew is a Governor at Godstowe School.

Following this, she taught in a pupil referral unit supporting young people in London’s East End, and more recently she has mentored children who struggle with school, encouraging them through activities such as cooking, gardening and horse-riding. She loves the outdoors and has been on many adventures, including a solo cycle from Shropshire to Istanbul, and kayaking the Yukon river with her husband, Andrew. She loves running and outdoor swimming and has been known to jump in the river Wye for a bracing dip!!!

Dynamis Adventures is a Christian organisation. We exist to serve young people from all walks of life, and we welcome everyone onto our programmes, wherever they have come from and whatever their background or beliefs.

COURAGE

Courage isn’t about doing things which other people think are tough. Courage is about facing up to the things which we as individuals find tough, whatever those things may be. We encourage every young person to try things which at first they might find hard – with the right support and an encouraging environment, amazing things can happen!

RESPECT

Respect for each other, our kit and the environment. Looking after each other is at the heart of what we do – we believe in encouraging, supporting and valuing each person who we work with. We want young people to grow and develop, and this all starts with respecting who they are and what they bring to the team.

EVERYONE INVOLVED

We look out for each other and involve everyone in whatever activity we are doing – there is an important role for each person and there are many things which we are each good at, given the opportunity to try. We want everyone to roll their sleeves up, have a go and get stuck in!

OUR VISION

Our vision is to see young people develop and flourish through our mentoring and adventurous activities programmes. We want to see them grow in character, develop resilience, welcome challenge, awaken latent motivation and go out into the world ready to contribute positively to the communities they live in. We want to encourage them to see the adventure and the journey in life – to explore new horizons!

OUR MISSION

Dynamis Adventures provides adventurous outdoor activities for young people aged 10-18. We use engaging outdoor activities such as hill and mountain walking, scrambling, rock climbing, river canoeing, bushcraft and TLC activities (Teamwork, Leadership, Communication) as a platform for personal, physical, social and emotional growth in young people. Through these activities we develop opportunities for new experiences, new relationships and new aspirations. We use adventure to encourage young people to embrace challenge, taste success and to inspire them to take on a bigger mountain next time, whatever this may mean for each individual young person.

We also work with young people in a mentoring capacity – walking a journey with them from where they are to where they want to be. This 1:1 or small group work aims to help young people understand themselves, to identify goals and to help them reach mileposts along the way to achieving these goals. We use sessions to explore motivation, encourage a growth mindset and develop ideas which may lead young people into college, training, employment or other meaningful activity.
